GlasCurtain’s Thermaframe 8 (T8) curtain wall system leverages fibreglass-framing and vacuum insulated glass (VIG) to achieve exceptional thermal performance that’s ideal of cold climate institutional projects. With overall system performance of R8 (0.70W/m2K), heat loss through the building envelope is 2-3x less with T8 than with conventional aluminum-framed glazing systems, dramatically reducing operational carbon impacts and improving building longevity for both passive envelope systems and active mechanical systems. Additionally, fibreglass as a material has 2.5x less embodied carbon than aluminum, providing a true win-win for institutional clients specifying T8.

GBTN02 – Concordia University of Edmonton New Academic Building Envelope

The Concordia University of Edmonton New Academic Building Envelope has been funded for the incremental costs of an innovative glazing wall. The objective of this project was to understand the GHG reductions and carbon emissions reductions with the utilization of higher insulation glazing components. The final report presents the energy savings of a portion of the curtain wall completed with VIG + Fiberglass framing. The comparative site used a standard high-efficiency window assembly.
