Tanya has spent her career championing efficiency and sustainable building design. From her first role at an electric utility provider to a senior consultant for Stantec in alberta, Tanya has seen the evolution of sustainable design practice across western canada.
Her multifaceted career spans from promoting sustainability through stakeholder engagement, workshops, speeches, and presentations; to developing and implementing strategic plans and advocating for practical sustainable practices within Alberta. She was a panel member of the Alberta Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee and provided advice to the Minister of Environment and Parks on the details surrounding the scope of initial education and outreach and incentive programs to be administered as well as a long-term vision for Energy Efficiency Alberta.
Her background includes not-for-profit experience in governance and board strategies through her role as Executive Director, Alberta Chapter of the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) having successfully grown the organization from a start-up to include numerous corporate leaders and individual members to the second largest Chapter in Canada. Her leadership and tireless advocacy for the incorporation of strategies including LEED and industry best practices resulted in Alberta having one of the top 3 most certified LEED square footage per capital in North America annually since 2012.
Tanya sits as a Director on the SAIT – Green Building Technologies Advisory Committee and the Alberta Council for Environmental Education, and is a member of the City of Edmonton Corporate Climate Leaders.
