Collaborators on a GBTN team are sub-consultants or product/service providers with a strong business connection to the design, construction, and clean technology sector. Collaborators mutually benefit from the business development, learning opportunity and relationships made that continue on to leverage new business after the project is complete.

SSRIA connects members on projects with the intent of bringing together the strengths of the industry. Check out our members listing to see who you could network with by joining SSRIA, including members like ClearResult, Siemens and DIALOG featured on this month’s collaborator spotlight.

Triovest Collaborators include ClearResult, Siemens and DIALOG!

How did you get involved in the SSRIA GBTN with Butterwick Projects?

Siemens: As an existing building technologies partner, Triovest reached out to Siemens to explore potential technologies that could be piloted for the purposes of participating in the SSRIA GBTN program and evaluating GHG reduction solutions that could be applied throughout their building portfolio.

DIALOG: DIALOG has done several energy related projects with Triovest.

CLEAResult: Triovest asked CLEAResult to assist through our prior relationship delivering Strategic Energy Management services.

What does it mean to you be a project collaborator and what value do you add?

Siemens: Live buildings are essential to the development and improvement of new technologies. The interest from Triovest to explore new solutions and SSRIA’s financial support are tremendously helpful in developing, testing and improving technologies that are needed to further reduce GHG emissions from the built infrastructure. Siemens is the primary technology provider for this GBTN project and regularly making adjustments to the technology based on feedback from the building. Since Siemens also provides building automation in the facility we are also able to provide more detailed diagnosis and analysis when comfort conditions stray from the desired range.

DIALOG: DIALOG wanted to provide input on the physical constraints of mechanical equipment relative to controls.

CLEAResult: It’s a great opportunity to work with property managers to better understand their needs, goals and challenges to move to a low-carbon economy. Collaborating with asset managers and technology vendors is also a valuable learning opportunity. We fill the role of independent evaluator to measure and validate the performance of the technology.

What do you think you will gain from your participation in the project?

Siemens: Live building operation & feedback is tremendously valuable to the development and improvement of any new technology. To date, the GBTN project has validated that there is an opportunity for energy reduction, the DVO technology is capable of achieving it and lessons about site-specific configuration have been learned.

DIALOG: Knowledge about how to optimize the control system and use smarter controls.

CLEAResult: We value the deeper relationship with Triovest and we are always keen to learn about new technology.

What do you hope the greatest project outcome will be?

Siemens: Validation of the technology as a reliable and scalable solution to reduce energy consumption in existing commercial buildings while also providing building operators with additional insight to better meet occupant comfortMark Byvelds

DIALOG: Providing better control algorithms that can eliminate false signals.Grant Kidd

CLEAResult: We hope we can reliably and independently confirm that the technology can deliver savings for the operation of the building.

How will you continue to use the experience and learning from this project to further reduce GHG emissions in the built environment?

Siemens: The roll-out and stability of future technology implementation will be improved based on lessons learned from this GBTN project. This is expected to improve the number of projects implemented in the future while also allowing them to become operational in a shorter period of time.

DIALOG: Reducing fan energy can reduce a significant portion of building GHG emissions.

CLEAResult: The application of any technology is usually as important to the success of the technology as is the fundamental principles the technology is built upon. The lessons learned and our deeper understanding of the technology in general will allow us to improve the success rate of future projects like this.
