A lot has been happening with the Smart Sustainable Resilient Infrastructure Association (SSRIA) over the past several months so we felt that a quarterly update would be useful.
As many of you will recall volunteers re-focused the work of the Supercluster proposal into a smaller but worthy project called the Green Building Technology Network (GBTN). This project includes packages focused on energy efficiency innovations, monitoring and measuring these innovations in a portfolio of green buildings and a skills upgrading program call the FutureSkills Network. To support innovation two additional initiatives include the development of a Virtual Incubator and an Angel Investment Fund.
SSRIA submitted the GBTN project to Alberta Innovates and in March we were advised that we secured $3M from their Clean Technologies Fund. These funds are to support some capacity building for the SSRIA and to implement this initiative over the next 3 years. Mid July we submitted a companion proposal to Western Economic Diversification to match the provincial funding and are in the process of working with them through their review and approval process.
